NCEFT’s Social Skills Group

NCEFT’s Social Skills Group continues to be a great success since it first launched in spring of 2015. We are pleased to continue our commitment to supporting our clients and their families in their social and emotional growth.
The Social Skills Group program is designed for children aged seven years and above who could benefit from social learning, including children with high functioning Autism, Asperger’s, SPD and other undiagnosed social communicative difficulties. Groups are formed by age range.
Each group is tailored to address every child’s individual needs, and always includes lessons on self-awareness, whole body listening, flexibility, self-regulation/sensory processing, emotional regulation, verbal negotiation, perspective taking, empathy and/or confidence building.
In partnership with Gallop Ventures, our approach is based on an experiential learning model and offers a unique combination of experiential learning modalities that include: storytelling, game playing, art projects, nature activities and hands-on animal therapy.

Goals of the program include improving:

  • Whole Body Listening
  • Verbal negotiation
  • Emotional regulation
  • Empathy

Social Skills Groups run for 10-week long sessions – fall, winter and spring – throughout the school year.
