Adaptive Riding Instructor

Adaptive Riding Instructor

Adaptive Riding Instructor, PATH-Certified

Summary:

NCEFT is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and compassionate PATH certified Adaptive Riding Instructor to join our team. This part-time role supports riders of diverse ages and abilities as they build confidence, develop horsemanship and riding skills, and work toward meaningful personal goals. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who is passionate about adaptive riding, committed to safety, and excited to contribute to a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide adaptive riding instruction to individuals and groups with a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Deliver assigned adaptive riding sessions in alignment with client goals and lesson plans
  • Develop and facilitate group lessons as appropriate
  • In coordination with program directors, assess potential clients for Adaptive Riding and Horsemanship programs
  • Develop individualized goals and measurable outcomes to track client progress
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client documentation
  • Manage horse usage in coordination with the Barn Director and Program Director
  • Communicate clearly and collaboratively with staff regarding scheduling, horse assignments, facilities, and volunteers
  • Educate and guide side-walker volunteers or staff on specialized skills or client-specific needs
  • In coordination with barn staff, oversee and maintain the safety of clients, volunteers, staff, and horses during sessions

Organizational Engagement:

  • Represent NCEFT’s mission and values professionally to clients, families, volunteers, and the public
  • Participate in NCEFT fundraisers, events, and community outreach as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a PATH Certified Riding Instructor preferred.
  • Current PATH CTRI certification or ability to complete certification within an agreed upon timeframe. 
  • Experience with a wide range of rider needs and ages, including oversight of group lessons.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Team-player with good communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift up to 35 pounds from the ground to waist height to assist clients and lift occasional items, such as saddles, ground poles, feed buckets, etc.
  • Able to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for up to 7 hours per day (perform tacking or leading horse for session if part of lesson plan, retrieve and return horses to and from their stalls through a 12-acre farm/ranch facility.
  • Possess the agility and dexterity to rapidly move toward or away from full sized horses to protect the safety of the client and side-walkers.
  • Able to jog, without stopping, approximately 150 yards on an uneven surface, while leading a horse or side-walking.

Pay Range:

$24-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
