Stephen’s Story
Stephen was fresh out of high school, had completed US Army basic training, and was just beginning advanced individual training with the intention to move into the field of explosive ordnance disposal when debilitating headaches and nausea put his plans on hold. Ultimately, Stephen’s life and abilities changed dramatically following diagnosis of a brain tumor.
Stephen has participated in NCEFT’s Physical Therapy program since 2015 after brain surgery that could not fully resect the tumor. He was using a wheelchair for mobility when he first started at NCEFT. However, he is notorious for pushing himself fully, and has improved his coordination to be able to now begin taking one mile walks a few times a week with his family. Stephen’s family makes a 2 hour drive (one way) to NCEFT each week.
